5 Things You Can Do to Reduce Stress in 2021

5 Things You Can Do to Reduce Stress in 2021

2020 was a challenging year for almost everyone. People’s mental and emotional wellbeing took significant hits throughout the year. 2020 featured several full-blown moments which drained many people’s mental state, from a series of natural disasters to the global pandemic and multiple political and social issues. Not to mention that in times of self-quarantine, prioritizing one’s mental health became more challenging than ever.

While some stress or anxiety is completely normal, chronic stress has detrimental effects on your body and mind. So, let’s develop new strategies to combat prolonged stress and anxiety.

Here are 5 small things that you can do to lower your stress levels.

            Get a Jellyfish Lamp

Tranquil and calm scenes have a positive impact on your brain. Consider purchasing a jellyfish lamp to promote peace and calm in your home space. Watch jellyfish models swim quietly, creating a beautiful ambiance. Lifelike jellyfish movements are so realistic you will question if they are real. The overall effect with changing lights is simply mesmerizing, fascinating & relaxing. Although it is not discussed very much, there are health and emotional benefits that come from having Jellyfish Lamp Aquarium. Quite simply, we use LED lights, water and a motor that allows the silicone jellyfish to look almost life-like with their movements. The lamp's outer shell is Acrylic and not glass, so it will not shatter if dropped. The LED colors can be set to one color or put in a multi-color changing mode.

Meditate, Meditate, Meditate! From studies to first-hand stories, there is so much backing this one up. And while it’s on a lot of ‘stress-less’ lists, a reminder never hurts. If you haven’t started meditating, now is your chance. Keep in mind that you don’t have to sit cross-legged on the floor to meditation — you can even engage in moving meditation. Both meditation and yoga are beneficial for dealing with mental and emotional health issues. Meditation can reduce stress, a leading cause of anxiety and depression. Besides, it can also help people in the management of chronic body pain. Yoga, which goes hand in hand with meditation, is also considered a helpful aid to promote mental and emotional wellness.

It’s also proven that one can improve their meditating abilities and focus by concentrating on an object. Jellyfish lamps are a great aesthetically pleasing object you can find yourself staring into and getting lost in for hours at a time even. Now combining that with even a beginners level of meditation, you could find yourself at inner peace and much more relaxed, with your mind off of the daily stresses and anxieties that life throws at us.

            Find a Healthy Anger Outlet

And no, we don’t mean yelling at your significant other or the next available family member. Instead, discover healthy ways to vent. Some towns and cities even have smash or rage rooms where you can safely release any pent-up frustrations. Write in a journal. Let it all out. Many people avoid dealing with their feelings. They brush them away and continue with their lives, pretending that nothing is wrong. However, avoiding your problems and not immediately addressing what’s bothering you will only build in your mind until it reaches the breaking point.

In 2021, making an effort to express and face your feelings head-on will make a huge change in your life. By writing it down, you can assess how things make you feel.  You don’t have to make it a daily habit, but writing down your thoughts and feelings in your spare time or after a devastating week can help you understand and address them more effectively. Doing so will allow you to understand yourself better and help you identify your stressors. You also become much more literate with your feelings and thoughts. Journaling will help you gain control over your emotions, improving your mental health.

            Declutter Your Home

One study showed an association between clutter and life dissatisfaction. Clean up the house and home. Keep it tidy. You might notice more clarity and less stress and anxiety.

Clutter can cause feelings of stress, fatigue, and depression, according to recent research. Stress contributes to poor sleep, poor eating habits and general poor health, so it's a good idea to start decluttering – one step at a time. Set aside 15 minutes per day to straighten up one place, such as a messy shelf or drawer. This way you'll feel happier and more relaxed at the end of the day, and gradually create more order as you go along.

Talk With a Therapist or Loved One

Unfortunately, many people suffering from anxiety and depression choose to carry all the weight of their mental illness on their own rather than sharing it with others. They tend to keep their problems to themselves without letting their loved ones know what struggles they are going through.

Therapy is becoming the new norm. Plus, it doesn’t create more drama in your life. You can vent to a total stranger who will provide solutions and support. Test out the waters and find a therapist that works for you.

Having a loved one or therapist you trust and feel comfortable talking to can save you. You don’t have to develop a whole group right away. Just someone willing to listen with an open mind is a good start to building a support system.

Research shows chronic stress can increase your inflammation and, ultimately, increase your risk of disease. Find methods and activities that help you relax. Changing the way you interpret life’s circumstances and challenges is a stepping stone to a more positive and healthy outlook on life. Achieving positive mental and emotional health will help you cope with your struggles and maintain your overall well being. That way, you’ll lead a healthier, happier, and longer life. Our Jellyfish Lamp isn’t only a beautiful decoration piece, it also provides an array of health benefits simply by just gazing upon the whimsical lamp. 10 Fascinating Facts About Jellyfish

Anyone who has seen a jellyfish’s dome-shaped body pulsating through the water, tentacles dangling behind, can testify that they are both an intimidating and intriguing sight. That’s because Jellyfish are some of the Earth's most ancient animals, even older than dinosaurs! Jellyfish are not fish, which is quite counterintuitive, because a fish’s anatomy is centered around its backbone, whereas the jellyfish is a dome-shaped invertebrate. They are indeed mystical creatures of the oceans, so here are 10 fascinating facts about Jellyfish!

            Jellyfish - Wikipedia

Jellyfish have no bones, so fossils are hard to come by. However, there is scientific evidence that these creatures have been bobbing along in the world's oceans for at least 500 million years. The jellyfish’s lineage goes back even further, possibly 700 million years ago. That's roughly three times the age of the first dinosaurs!

Divers Encounter a Human-Size Jellyfish Off the Coast of England | Smart News | Smithsonian Magazine

One look at a jellyfish and this might seem rather obvious, but they aren't fish. They are invertebrates from the phylum Cnidaria, and are so varied as a taxonomic group that many scientists have taken to simply referring to them as "gelatinous zooplankton." They are basically floating blobs in the ocean.

Jellyfish Sting Treatment - What to Do If You're Stung By Jellyfish

They have a rudimentary nervous system but have no brain. The Jellyfish has a loose network of nerves located in the skin called a "nerve net", which controls its behavior and basic functions such as swimming and eating. They also don't have a heart because their bodies are so thin that they can be oxygenated solely by diffusion.

First Aid Afloat - jellyfish stings - Safe Skipper Boating & Safety Afloat Apps for phones & tablets

Jellyfish seem to blend in with their environment, undulating gently with the ocean's currents, and with good reason: Their bodies are made up of as much as 98% water. When they wash ashore, they can disappear after just a few hours as their bodies evaporate into the air.

Forget zombies; we should be fighting jellyfish

It might not sound very appetizing, but jellyfish do not have separate openings for eating and pooping. They have one orifice that does the job of both the mouth and the anus. Yuck! But that's also beautiful in a minimalist sort of way.

The horror and the wonder of jellyfish

A group of dolphins is called a pod, a group of fish is called a school, and a group of crows is called a murder. But what is a group of jellyfish called? Well, many refer to groups of jellyfish as blooms or swarms, but they can also be called a "smack."

The jellyfish are coming! Experts tangle with exploding population

You won't find them on many restaurant menus, but jellyfish are edible and are eaten as a delicacy in some places, such as in Japan and Korea. In fact, in Japan jellyfish have been transformed into candy. A sweet and salty caramel made out of sugar, starch syrup, and jellyfish powder has been produced by students to make use of the jellyfish that often plague the waters there.

The "Immortal" Jellyfish That Resets When Damaged | AMNH

NASA first started sending jellyfish to space aboard the Columbia space shuttle back in the early 1990s to test how they might get along in a zero-gravity environment. Why? Interestingly, both humans and jellyfish rely on specialized gravity-sensitive calcium crystals to orient themselves. (These crystals are located inside the inner ear in the case of humans, and along the bottom edge of the mushroom-like bodies of jellies.) So studying how jellyfish manage in space can reveal clues about how humans might also fare.

Jellyfish and Comb Jellies | Smithsonian Ocean

Don’t let SpongeBob fool you. All jellyfish have stinging structures, some even are capable of killing an adult human with a single sting in just a few minutes. The box jellyfish for example reportedly carries enough venom to kill more than 60 humans. To make matters worse, their stings are excruciatingly painful — it's said the pain could kill you before the venom does!

Jellyfish | Ocean creatures, Sea creatures, Ocean animals

Melanie Roberts, Senior Aquarist at SeaWorld Orlando, says that the largest jellyfish in the world is a lion’s mane jellyfish. The body of this beautiful bioluminescent orange jelly can grow up to three feet in diameter and have 12,000 tentacles that can grow 120 feet long! This makes it comparable to the size of a blue whale!

Top 5 Beaches With The World's Most Jellyfish

Top 5 Beaches With The World's Most Jellyfish

Has quarantine got you bored? Are you dreaming of being on vacation and sunbathing by the beach? Well make sure to do plenty of research before choosing your tourist destination! While beaches might seem like a great place to relax, they are also swarming with marine wildlife, some of which are quite dangerous! Keep reading to find out which beaches around the world have the most jellyfish!

            Jellyfish Lake, Palau

Jellyfish lake might be known as the beach with the most jellyfish in the world, but it actually used to be a huge tourist attraction. The Golden Jellyfish at this lake are harmless and don’t sting people. You could hire a tour guide to take you around the lake and dive into the jellyfish-filled water! Unfortunately, this lake was closed in 2016 due to the decreasing number of jellyfish. The lake is currently recovering their population and tourists hope that they can visit again in the future.

            Okinawa Beach, Japan

Okinawa Beach is another location known for its high jellyfish population. Box jellyfish are known to be common during May and October, particularly around artificial beaches. Despite the protective netted areas, jellyfish stings are rising and are dangerous to beach goers. These beaches are also known for other dangerous marine life such as lionfish, the Erabu black-banded sea krait, and the crown of thorns starfish, so make sure to be careful!

            Cable Beach, Australia

Cable beach rests on the west coast of Australia, and is known for its high jellyfish stinger season. As beautiful as this beach might be, it was forced to close twice in just a few days due to the high number of jellyfish stings. The beach floor is often dragged during closures to find jellyfish, but there is only so much we can do to keep beach-goers safe!

            Casco Bay, Maine

Casco Bay is known for its large number of jellyfish in its waters, especially during the summer when the water is warm. In 2015, many people reported seeing large swarms of jellyfish off the beach’s coast. However, despite these sightings, this beach is still nowhere near as dangerous as some of the other beaches on this list! Scientists are currently researching the reason behind these sudden booms in jellyfish.

            Cape Tribulation, Australia

It's to no surprise that another beach in Australia is on this list. Cape Tribulation experiences stinger season between November to May. Box jellyfish are most commonly found here. But, just like many Australian beaches, jellyfish are not the only thing you should worry about. This beach is swarming with marine life such as venomous snakes, crocodiles, and stinging trees.

However, despite all these warnings, remember that not all jellyfish are dangerous! Jellyfish actually symbolize healing and moving forward. There is no way to heal yourself and relax than with the LED Jellyfish Lamp! It provides a comforting light in the dark and a beautiful ambiance.

            Review Title: Mesmerizing

            Review Description:

This is the neatest thing to watch, it sucks you in! Quiet motor, very easy set up.

Update: I bought 2 more of these for Christmas gifts again, one has a louder motor than the other two out of the three I bought. The two are almost completely silent. Just a head's up as some may be more sensitive to background noise than others.

Review Title: These are great if added to water correctly!

            Review Description:

We bought this for our son after he asked Santa for a jellyfish robot for Christmas (i know super random!)... but really this is now my toy When we first added the jelly fish to the tank filled with tap water, they didn't move around at all. I then read the troubleshooting questions here and now they work perfectly. Make sure to soak the jellyfish in dish soap first, rinse them thoroughly and then add them to the tank with distilled water (don't use tap water, the bubbles will prevent the fish from doing anything). These are great if you follow these steps! They look real and the changing lights are great!

            Review Description:

This lamp is wonderful. The colours are bright and vibrant, with multiple options for a solid colour or colour-changing. My kids use it as a nightlight in their room and it automatically shuts off after a few hours. The jellyfish are so lifelike and fun to watch. Simple to set up and use.

            Review Description:

My daughter wanted Jellyfish and I told her that was not happening lol. This light came in good time. Works well and looks really neat. I think its price point is fair and would recommend this product. I also recommend going to the dollar store and buying glass marble sized balls and putting them in the bottom. It holds the light and makes it all look even more authentic and pretty.

            Review Title: Jelly Fish Lamp

            Review Description:

This is a great lil investment. I find it relaxing to watch while going to sleep. The colors are bright & very pretty. The jellyfish I got with mine have florescent yellow & pink markings which I love. This would make a great gift for kids & adults alike & takes up very little space. Very simple to use, just fill to desired water level & plugin & turn it on, just that simple. I do suggest placing the jelly fish on top first as it eliminates air build up in the fish & they move better, when the head is filled with water. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a fish tank but doesn't have the room for one or just because you want something not everyone would have.

Review Title: Beautiful movement, quiet, colorful.

            Review Description:

The instructions are very clear and they work! I have my unit sitting in a very well-lit office, but it doesn't prevent the LED from reflecting all the colors. The motor lets out a gentle hum, one that's only discernible in a quiet home setting. At work, I can't hear it even if I wanted to. The movement is smooth and unpredictable, as long as you've made sure to clear the bubbles from underneath the top part. I only had to do this once, despite having to transport the filled unit by car to my office. Very sturdy, all and all. It has yet to disappoint me.

I saw a friend's jellyfish lamp at work and wanted one for myself. I wanted one that wouldn't be too big, and just a fun addition to my cubicle décor.

I saw this one and thought I'd give it a shot. It was so easy to set up and being honest? I didn't follow all the directions. I did soak the jellyfish in Dawn, but only for about 4 hours. I used filtered tap water to fill the lamp. I didn't experience any bubbling up or anything like that - from the moment I turned it on it's just been beautiful. The jellyfish float gracefully, the colors change nicely - it's exactly what I wanted and I don't know that I could be happier.

Review Title: Very cool and calming......

            Review Description:

My son wanted one of these for Christmas for his bedroom as I didn't want to buy a real fish tank. This was just perfect. Just add water and you are done. Easy to follow set up directions. The jellyfish dance and move around each other as the light changes color. It’s very calming and fascinating and gets lots of compliments on it. Once in a while if they don't move around, I just shake it gently. The fish just need to get into the right rhythm from the blower on the bottom of the tank. Delivery was quick and arrived without any damage. A great value and investment for your home.

Review Title: Love them & they look so real!

            Review Description:

We love this item, I think something was lost in translation and I assumed we were getting the one with the ocean sounds. But there is no sound, and with following the directions very closely, including first soaking the jelly fish in liquid dish soap, the set up has been a success! I used dawn dish soap and soaked the jellyfish for the full 8 hours, and then I used the distilled water. Had no problems and almost immediately they worked as they were supposed to, and look so real! Thank you!

Review Title: Beautiful - and kids love it!

            Review Description:

My 8 year old LOVES this lamp! He's autistic so I was looking for something to help calm him as well as provide light at night. This was the perfect buy! He loves watching the jellyfish for long periods of time even when he's not upset and it turns off by itself at night after 4 hours which is plenty of time for him to fall asleep but then I know it won't run all night. Any of their friends that come over always think it's the coolest thing ever. SO much more fun than a "normal" nightlight! We did the soaking in dish soap as the instructions recommend but it still took a couple days for the fish to "swim" normally but I think the soaking definitely makes a difference in the amount of time that takes.

How To Meditate In Front Of A Jellyfish Lamp

How To Meditate In Front Of A Jellyfish Lamp

Do you ever catch yourself stressed out about your future? Or anxious about what today or tomorrow are going to be like? Or worried about managing your time and energy well? Well we’ve got a solution for you, it’s meditation, but not just any kind of meditation though, meditation in front of a jellyfish lamp. Now you might say it seems crazy, but meditation is a thousand year old practice, originally practiced to understand and experience a deeper understanding of life, the world, and all things around us. However, nowadays meditation is a common practice used to reduce stress and anxiety. As well as treatment for illnesses, and a keypart in many athletes, millionaires, and business mens days and routines. It’s also proven that one can improve their meditating abilities and focus by concentrating on an object. Here’s how to meditate in front of a jellyfish lamp.

Lava lamps and Jellyfish lamps are a great focal point for your room or home to help set a relaxing mood, away from the busy and modern world architecture and designs we are surrounded by. Many people have even claimed that the glow, and subtle movement of the jellyfish lamps help them unwind and step into a state of relaxation.
But enough about all the benefits of the Jellyfish lamp, you want to know how to use it in combination with meditation to reach an even higher level of relaxation and peace. So let's get started!
First, you’ll want to find a quiet spot in your room, or living room, or even backyard! Next position the Jellyfish lamp somewhere in sight, not too far so you have to strain yourself looking at it and could be distracted by other things going on around it, but not too close that it's all you see when looking towards it. Usually a few feet straight in front of you will do the trick. Next you’ll want to sit down in front of the lamp, meditation experts claim that placing one foot on top of the other is the best way to sit, as it creates less physical stress on your knees and legs. But, for beginners, it's totally acceptable to cross your legs and slowly transition into placing them on top of one another until you get more comfortable and used to it.
Next, place your hands in your lap, one on top of the other, in a cradle position, one hand holding the other in place, in a relaxed state. Now finally, position your head and back in a straight position, not looking up or down too much, just directly at the lamp. Now, you can start with your eyes closed for now, or start by staring into the jellyfish lamp. You want to focus on your breathing, taking deep breaths in, and deep breaths out. Focus on the little pauses in between your breaths, and nothing else yet. Continue breathing in and out until you have focus on your breathing, even if it is just a bit. After you’ve done some deep breathing, if you have not yet, open your eyes and focus on the jellyfish lamp, all while continuously focusing on your breathing, until you’re taking deep breaths and focusing on the pauses subconsciously.
Now focus on the slow and methodical transitions of different patterns and shapes inside the Jellyfish lamp. The deep sea design of blue and purple tones is naturally visually stimulating and inspires calm and tranquility. Continue the deep breathing, as you notice your body is getting less and less uncomfortable, and lighter. While looking into the Jellyfish lamp, see and feel the quiet, yet welcoming embrace of the ocean and the jellyfish swimming around peacefully. The slow and smooth transitions of the jellyfish are an amazing sensory stimulation that one can find themselves lost in for time.
And that’s all there is to it! Just continue deep breathing and focus into the jellyfish lamp for as long as possible, without getting distracted by your smartphone, surroundings, or worrying about that long to do list you may still have. We recommend setting a 5-10 or 15 minute timer, try to focus on your breathing and meditation until you hear your alarm go off. This will ensure you retain as much attention as you can while starting off and mid meditation. Meditating can help bring balance and peace back to your daily life, while reducing stress and anxiety levels.
So if you feel stressed and want a break from the busy modern day landscape and all its worries, try meditating with a Jellyfish lamp to reduce your stress and refresh your mind. A healthy mind is also a healthy body. So don’t just wait around and complain about all your worries! Get your very own unique Jellyfish lamp today! Shop Now! Click Here!

            What is world's biggest jellyfish?

As we have said before, jellyfish are one of the oldest animals in the ocean, they have drifted along ocean currents for millions and millions of years. But because they generally dwell in the ocean’s deeper realms, there are still species that scientists have only just begun to understand

Contrary to what their name suggests, jellyfish aren’t fish; rather, they’re brainless, bloodless and boneless invertebrates  creatures that propel themselves through the water column by expanding and contracting their bells.

They come in various shapes, sizes, and behaviors. Smaller species of jellyfish are often seen on beaches, but the largest jellyfish are rarely spotted by the common observer.

This is the case of the lion’s mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata), also called the giant kellyfish or the hair jelly, recognized as the biggest jellyfish in the world.

It gets its name from its dense mass of long, dangling tentacles that resemble a lion’s mane. The largest known specimen stretches 36.5 meters from the top to the bottom of its tentacles.

It inhabits the cold waters of the arctic, North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans. Typically identify with a light to deep orange or crimson colour, but can also be yellow, tan, rose, violet or even white. Their body is bell shaped and it can grown to as much as 2.5 metres in diameter!

They also have eight groups of 70 to 150 tentacles. Depending on the size of the individual, these tentacles can range from nine to just over 36 metres in length.Wich allows them to capture plankton as they drift and attract small fishes via their bioluminescence.

However, the lion’s mane jellyfish has its predators. Seabirds, larger fish and sea turtles tend to attack juveniles specimens, although both adults and juveniles have been documented eaten by anemones.
